WIN – And Be HATED!

Excuse our French. It happens to be one of the most common insults
hurled indiscriminately at media executives who have won a SMA. No
surprises there! After all, the Singapore Media Awards is the only
genuine media awards in Singapore that recognizes the best media ideas.
And IT IS rather difficult to win.

If you’ve been a part of an outstanding media campaign in the past
year, send your work in, and be judged by a panel of distinguished
clients, creatives and media opinion leaders. WIN – and know how good
it feels to be hated by your peers!

JWT Rolls Out FIRST ASIA Regional Campaign for SAMSONITE

Hot off the appointment of JWT Hong Kong as creative agency for
Samsonite’s new regional ‘Step Out’ campaign in February this year, the
brand has launched their first regional brand campaign ever for the
Asia market.

‘Step Out’ aims to give clarity and consistency to the Samsonite brand
by uniting different product offerings in one story. To elevate
Samsonite from a durable luggage brand to a brand that is an essential
part of our daily lives, the campaign taps into an emotional state that
exists inside everyone – building relevance and emotional appeal among
the wide range of Samsonite consumers across Asia.

Talking on the campaign, Charles Wong, Deputy Executive Creative
Director, JWT Hong Kong states, “We want to inspire individuals to step
out of their comfort zones, to live their goals. Our campaign depicts
how Samsonite fulfils its brand promise to look after our lives in
motion. It marks a bold departure from the usual luggage category.”

The ‘Step Out’ campaign runs across TV, OOH, Print and In-Store,
launching this year in the following markets: China, Hong Kong, India.
Hong Kong was the first market to launch the campaign last month.

Wang Lei, Director of Planning, JWT Hong Kong said, “Samsonite is on
the verge of becoming a true brand in the full sense of the word. It
started as the name of a single product. Now, it is a sign of know-how
in a category. It stands for ‘durable luggage.’ In the future it should
be the genetic code of a wide variety of products across categories.”

another level with a noble, giant undertaking to ‘clean up’ Mt Everest.
A joint initiative with Gorkha Brewery in Nepal, this civic mission has

phase of this momentous enterprise, which saw other members from the
region as well as Roy Bagattini, Senior Vice President of Carlsberg,
making up the 11 expedition ember who set out on 20 May 2011.

The five secret heroes’ identities were revealed with much fanfare a
week before their departure. They include 21 year old blogger cum
bodybuilder Lai Wee Kiat, who operates popular fitness and lifestyle
blog Fabodylous.com; Kuek Ziyi, an inline skating champion instructor
who was on FHM’s top 100 sexiest women list. Also in the group are two
staff members from Carlsberg Singapore – June Lee and Samuel Chen; as
well as Deva Vellu, a Public Relations professional from Communications
DNA.

Way to go, Carlsberg!
