Aside from setting the Marina Bay precinct awash with colour and light through more than 30 environmentally sustainable light art installations, i Light Marina Bay 2012 adds to the bustle of activity in the Marina Bay area through a host of interactive fringe events and activities. Organised by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) with festival direction provided by Smart Light, i Light Marina Bay 2012, Asia’s first and only sustainable light art festival is taking place from 9 March

Events & Performances :
Celebrate Singapore’s city nightscape and the dynamic artworks lighting up the Bay with a range of exciting fringe events taking place during the Festival.
Each weekend, there will be a Night Carnival featuring booths selling food and drinks, as well as eco-friendly merchandise. Visitors can look forward to free coffee from NESCAFE, as well as free light painting activities offered by LUMIX. Visitors will be entertained by roving percussion performances of samba, rata and reggae beats by Junk Jam, talented LED light twirlers and towering LED stilt walkers as well as Singapore Sky Dancers’ synchronised kite flying. In addition, there will be outdoor story-telling sessions that showcase the fun science of light and sound while also communicating the sustainability message in a lighthearted way.
Working with community partner People’s Association, i Light Marina Bay 2012 will also present the NESCAFE® PAssion Movie Night during its final weekend on 31 March 2012 at The Lawn. Visitors can also learn to create their very own light installation – a “Light Catcher” made out of simple craft materials – at a workshop to be held during the movie night.
Commenting on the event, Mr. Yam Ah Mee, Chief Executive Director of the People’s Association said, “In 2010, through our partnership with i Light Marina Bay, we reached out to more than 10,000 residents. Many shared with us that they were glad for the opportunity to come together with their friends and family and do something they enjoyed – many even made new friends at the event! Hence, we are very happy to join hands with i Light Marina Bay again this year. This year’s NESCAFE® PAssion Movie Night will give residents who share the same passion for movies and the Arts, the opportunity to catch a show out in the open amongst many interesting light art installations, under the stars and make more friends with many more like-minded individuals and families over popcorn and cinematic magic.”
