Thirty finalists have been shortlisted for the Top 20 local/international television commercials and the Top 10 radio ads of The Laurels 2013. These finalists will now vie to be Singapore’s most loved television and radio commercials of 2012 during the voting period from 19 January to 10 March 2013.
The Listeners’ Choice made its debut as a subsidiary award in Viewers’ Choice last year. This year, The Laurels bring both Viewers’ Choice and Listeners’ Choice awards together as the search for Singapore’s favourite television and radio commercials.
Advertisers whose ad spend amounted to more than $100,000 nett with MediaCorp television channels or more than $20,000 nett with MediaCorp radio stations for the period 1 January to 7 December 2012, were invited to submit their television and radio commercials aired during the same period, for the competition.
Close to 350 television commercials and 100 radio ads were submitted for The Laurels 2013 awards. 204 respondents took part in an auditorium survey conducted by Media Research Consultants Pte Ltd to select the finalists for both Viewers’ Choice and Listeners’ Choice award categories. The respondents were selected according to the demographic ratios that are representative of Singapore’s population.

From 19 January to 10 March 2013, the public can vote for their favourite television and radio commercials and stand to win the top prize of $10,000 cash. Voting can be done via The Laurels website at http://www.mediacorp.sg/thelaurels or The Laurels Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/mediacorpthelaurels.
During this period, publicity trailers will run on Channel 5, Channel 8, Channel U, okto, Suria and Vasantham and all MediaCorp radio stations. All commercials in their entirety will also be available on the website.
The results of The Laurels 2013: Viewers’ & Listeners’ Choice will be announced at a gala awards dinner held on 22 March 2013.
