The call for entries for the Crowbar Awards 2013 ended on 20th June. A total of 915 entries were submitted, an increase of 14% over the preceding year, and triple the number of entries from foreign institutions in Australia, New Zealand, USA, United Kingdom, China, Malaysia and Indonesia – testimony of the growing importance and influence The Crowbar has on institutions. The Awards also attracted new entrants from Singapore such as Glasgow School of Art and 3D Sense Media School & City College.
Nurturing Creativity Among Youths
Organized by The Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Singapore and since its inception in 2001, The Crowbar has evolved from a local one-day awards event to a yearlong programme consisting of a 24 Hour Advertising Challenge, Crowbar Marketing Challenge, Winners’ Workshop, an Awards Show and Crowbar Shine, a career development programme. The Crowbar program is well supported by the creative industry, institutions of higher education and brands who participate as sponsors.
New partner for 24 Hour Advertising Challenge
The 24 Hour Advertising Challenge is an important component of Crowbar, allowing young talents to showcase their speed and creativity. Typically, a team of five from the institutions will participate in this challenge. Mentored by industry veterans, students conceptualize an advertising campaign from a real-life client brief & make their presentation within 24 hours. This year, our new partner, e2i (Employment and Employability Institute)
introduces a unique theme of creating solutions for employment and employability. The challenge will also be extended online for contestants’ supporters to vote for their favorite campaign.
The Crowbar Awards Evening is the finale (night) of the festival, where winners of the Crowbar Awards, as well as the 24-Hour Advertising Challenge and Marketing Challenge will be officially announced. The finalists’ works will also be showcased. Well-attended by over 300 industry practitioners, creative professionals, lecturers and rising student talents, it will be a night of celebration, networking, and talent-hunting.
The Awards Show will be held on 20th August 2013.
