MediaCorp won two Gold and three Silver awards at the 2014 PromaxBDA Global Excellence Awards held in New York City on 12 June.

CANNES LIONS Largest Celebration of Creative Communicaters‏

Over 37,400 Entries from 97 Countries across 17 Categories

Cannes Lions entries reached an all-time high with a total of 37,427 entries submitted from a record 97 countries across 17 awards categories – Branded Content & Entertainment (1,178 entries), Creative Effectiveness (80), Cyber (3,660), Design (2,624) Direct (2,676), Film (2,838), Film Craft (2,073), Innovation (206), Media (3,127), Mobile (1,187), Outdoor (5,660), PR (1,850), Press (5,007), Product Design (194), Promo & Activation (3,241), Radio (1,448) and Titanium & Integrated Lions (378).

The top ten entrant countries were USA (6,213), Brazil (3,321), United Kingdom (2,757), Germany (2,376), France (1,838), Australia (1,543), Japan (1,146), Canada (995), India (976) and China (952). Countries entered for the very first time – Albania, Ghana and San Marino.

The work was judged by 17 international juries made up of 327 top-level industry peers from 44 countries who voted, deliberated and finally awarded the coveted Lions entries worthy of honour. For the first time ever, Outdoor entries overtook the number of Press submissions. The changing shape of entries shows how quickly our industry is evolving, and the winners revealed at the Festival shone the spotlight on those leading the way.

Cannes Lions took place from15-21 June 2014 in Cannes, France.

Key TicketCube services find new home

Operations at the arts and entertainment (A&E) event concierge at Orchard Road, TicketCube, will cease on 30 June 2014. TicketCube was launched in 2011 to raise the availability and awareness of A&E events in Singapore.

TicketCube’s key services, such as event concierge and ticketing, will be made available at the Singapore Visitors Centre when it moves to its new location at Emerald Hill later this year. “Integrating TicketCube’s key services with others provided by the new Singapore Visitors Centre will make it much more convenient for our visitors. They can obtain information and advice on arts and entertainment events in Singapore along with attractions, shows and other tourist offerings,” Jason Ong, Deputy Director, Arts, STB.

Between 1 July and the opening of the visitor centre at Emerald Hill, tourists and locals can continue to find out about Singapore’s A&E offerings at the existing visitor centre at Orchard (near Faber House). They can also find information and purchase event tickets directly from the ticketing service providers’ ticketing counters or websites.

The MasterPass digital payments platform by MasterCard eliminates the need for consumers to enter detailed shipping and card information to complete their online shopping at MasterPass merchant sites. Consumers can securely store MasterCard as well as other credit, debit and prepaid card information along with their billing/shipping addresses. This simplifies the process of completing a transaction from any connected device, particularly those with smaller screens.

GUINNESS Singapore lights 1000 candles in tribute to single mothers of Cha Cha Cottage‏

This year, Arthur Guinness Projects is proud to support Cha Cha Cottage – a local social enterprise that equips single mothers with cottage industry skills – such as candle and soap-making – which allows them to earn a living from home while they mind their children. Through a video tribute launched on Mother’s Day, it featured three of the many women morally and financially supported by Cha Cha Cottage. GUINNESS went beyond the typical charity route by making a wider appeal for Singaporeans to get involved and lend their support to the cause. For every click of support made through a dedicated Facebook app, GUINNESS pledged to donate $100, up to a maximum of $100,000, in aid of Cha Cha Cottage. Acknowledging the dual responsibilities and challenges faced by single mothers, GUINNESS Singapore will be lighting up and selling a total 1,759 candles in a light-up event held on Saturday, 21 June 2014. Up to 1,000 candles will be lit as part of a symbolic art installation created by visual artist Angela Chong representing the support single mothers at Cha Cha Cottage have received. At the event, candles created by the women of Cha Cha Cottage will be available for sale, with proceeds going towards the charity. Guest of Honour Ms Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Law and Ministry of Education, will be on-site to grace the occasion and witness the cheque presentation by GUINNESS to Cha Cha Cottage. In addition, the founder and beneficiaries of Cha Cha Cottage as well as visual artist Angela Chong will also be present.
