Over 20,000 schoolchildren in Singapore are believed to be suffering from dyslexia, a specific type of learning and developmental difficulty of language learning and cognition. Dyslexia primarily affects childrens (and adults) ability to accurately and fluently read and spell. Many of them may see normal text in the way that you just read the paragraph above. MOE identifies many dyslexic students as those with Special Educational Needs. Many others simply struggle through school unaware that they have a problem.
StarHub believes that education is an important foundation for any child to grow up and contribute meaningfully to his/her family and society. That’s why we will be supporting the Dyslexic Association of Singapores (DAS) Maths Assistance Programme for 75 dyslexic students. To better understand what these children go through and to walk in their shoes, a StarHub-DAS Challenge on 3 June 2014 was organized at StarHub Green last week.
