Consumers in Singapore are huge fans of online shopping – 9 out of 10 have bought something online. And today, anything we want is available literally at our fingertips! Clothes from our favourite brands overseas, one of a kind accessories, travel (of course) and even food through coupon sites. This trend has been helped tremendously by Singapore having the highest mobile penetration rate in Asia Pacific at 87%, which allows people to be ‘always on, always searching’.
MasterPass was launched on 2 June 2014. Shoppers in Singapore are the first in SEA to experience it, which promises a simplified payment experience while protecting the user’s card and personal details. By selecting “Buy With MasterPass” as the checkout option, customers reduce the risk of exposing their personal information over potentially unsafe networks with more privacy as their details are not shared directly with merchants.
The MasterPass digital payments platform by MasterCard eliminates the need for consumers to enter detailed shipping and card information to complete their online shopping at MasterPass merchant sites. Consumers can securely store MasterCard as well as other credit, debit and prepaid card information along with their billing/shipping addresses. This simplifies the process of completing a transaction from any connected device, particularly those with smaller screens.
