MediaCorp bags BCA Green Mark Platinum accolade for its new campus at Mediapolis@one-north
MediaCorp’s new campus, Mediapolis@one-north, has won the 2013 Green Mark Platinum Award, the highest rating for green building certification in Singapore awarded by Building and Construction Authority (BCA). Its building achieved the Green Mark Platinum rating through the implementation of highly efficient air conditioning, Sky-gardens to improve air quality, Light shafts to bring in more day-light, “Green” concrete and Regenerative drives to recover waste energy from lifts. All these green features combined tantamount to a saving of about 35% of energy consumption and a lower building carbon footprint.
Yeo Mui Sung, Chief Financial Officer, MediaCorp says, “Going green is part of our corporate mantra. Apart from the building’s physical structure, the building is linked to the major green belt along Kent Ridge Park to Rochester Park, enhancing its green connectivity with its surrounding environment.”
MediaCorp first announced its relocation to a 1.5 hectare site in Mediapolis@one-north in December 2010. Scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2015, this new complex with a gross floor area of 79,800 square metres, is the new media hub of MediaCorp, comprising a 1,600-seat performance theatre, broadcasting studios and corporate offices, under the same roof.
